JW Takes a Naperville Kitchen from 1990 to 2015
November 24, 2014
Our long-time clients in Naperville, IL were tired of their old, dated 1990 kitchen with grainy, oak cabinets and dark interiors. They approached JW for design ideas and remodeling needs.
We suggested keeping the old cabinets which were in very good condition and recomended painting the cabinets a beautiful Ivory color, adding a range hood and cool LED lights to open up the space and bring in much-needed light, and update the backsplash. Here is the before kitchen.
Week 1 – We removed the cabinet doors to be sanded, primed, filled, and painted at our workshop while we began the process by sanding and priming the cabinet boxes. Next we added wood fillers to remove the grains and finally painted. This process was repeated multiple times to completely get rid of the grains and achieve a gorgeous finish. Next, we added beautiful crown molding to the cabinets, and installed a sleek stainless steel range hood.
We finished off Week 1 by adding cool LED lights under and above the cabinets.

It’s Week 2 of the kitchen remodel and we are ready to tear out the old tiles and the 4″ granite backsplash and install brand new glass tiles. Once the tiles are installed, we will paint the kitchen walls and family room and unveil the brand new look. Here are some pics of the kitchen as we begin the tile installation.
Week 3 – The new glass mosaic tile from The Tile Shop has been installed, walls have been painted and the new kitchen is ready to be unveiled. The homeowners are ecstatic and are ready to celebrate the holidays in the “brand new” kitchen! Here is their new kitchen:
